(I may have inadvertently turned off the machine during the install process).
I believe this was a problem with the initial install of Windows. Any time I clicked the "Activate Windows" button in settings the computer freezes for a second and takes me back to the start screen.
I keep receiving the blue screen telling me to activate windows. I purchased a new computer from a legitimate dealer that was installed with Windows 8.1. My ideas are as follows 1) Initiate install of Windows 10, or 2)buy and change the Softward License, Please give your feeback on the proposed fixes. If this happens the system will disable certain features and reboot every couple of hours randomly. I only have a week befor the license expires now. Microsoft says it is the wrong license type, volume type"", but should be OEM". The retail dealer tell me that a restore of the system will fix it :smileysad. I contacted HP support nearly a week ago, was promissed a reponse in a couple of days, but as of today nothing. I tried the proposed fix as mentioned in the respond and it made the problem worth. I have the same problem with my windows 8.1 system preinstall on my ENVY desktop as mentioned below "windows will expire soon message.
